Alicia Eggert's work, The Universe Within, was chosen by jurors from AEIVA and MSA for display on the retaining wall of the AEIVA building's courtyard.

The Feeling is Monumental invites questions about reconnection and grounding in response to a world of hyper connectivity, loneliness, isolation and information overload. The exhibition will be on display October 12, 2024 - April 9, 2025.

About Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts (AEIVA): AEIVA’s mission is to provide a cultural gateway that enriches and supports accessible learning, research, and thinking for the University of Alabama Birmingham community, Birmingham, and beyond. The mission is accomplished through transformative and challenging exhibitions, engaging programming, and purposeful collecting.

Open to the public since January 2014, AEIVA exhibitions focus on artists of regional, national, and international significance, works from the AEIVA permanent collection, and exhibitions of student work, such as the annual graduating BFA Exhibition each spring.

The facility is named for lead donors Hal and Judy Abroms, Ruth, and the late Marvin Engel. Los Angeles-based architect Randall Stout designed the building. “AEIVA creates a dynamic indoor and outdoor public space that physically and visually connects with the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center across the street,” said UAB President Ray L. Watts, M.D.
