Mid-South Sculpture Alliance
National Juried Art Exhibition
Jurors: Mike Barclay and Leticia Bajuyo
"Sculpture has the unique ability to alter our perceptions through its use of shape, mass, and space to encourage observation and reflection on the world around us in new ways. Each artwork in this exhibition was selected for its creative insight and conceptual exploration communicated through refined craft and inventive use of materials. This diverse exhibition reflects the innovative, dynamic, and outstanding work being created through a variety of materials, techniques, and content that represents the Mid-South Sculpture Alliance (MSA).
Artists are inspired and motivated by a number of influences, reasons and desires to create and that is reflected in works assembled for this exhibition. MSA Select is an eclectic exhibition representing the diverse creativity and commitment of the Mid-South Sculpture Alliance. As jurors, we were inspired by the range of submissions and challenged to select an exhibition, with the Slocumb Galleries in mind, that would highlight the strength of this nexus of sculptural practices while also respecting the beautiful gallery spaces. Thank you for entrusting us with this responsibility and the privilege to read, explore, discuss, and debate. As these artworks are celebrated in this exhibition, we recognize this is only a fraction of what MSA and its members create and do."
