Presenters' Bios

JAN CHENOWETH, Chattanooga, TN
Jan Chenoweth, artist, curator and teacher, now resides in Chattanooga. Early years in her native south Florida have provided a rich stimulus for the continuing sense of color and texture that have remained vital components of her work. While her work is primarily non-objective, fragments of colors, forms and structures from nature and human-made sources continue to be starting points.

The majority of her undergraduate work was done at the University of Illinois and Virginia Intermont College. She received her MFA degree in Visual Art from Florida State University with a concentration in sculpture. After graduate school she has taught color theory, three-dimensional design, two-dimensional design, painting, and drawing for more than eighteen years at the college level.

With sculptor, Roger Halligan, she opened Chenoweth.Halligan Studios and Front Gallery in 2010 in Chattanooga's Southside arts district.
